South Africa's National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said on Tuesday it had rejected the latest wage offer from the world's second largest platinum producer Impala Platinum (Implats).

NUM said the company had offered to raise wages by between 7.5 percent and 8 percent, depending on workers' categories. The parties will meet again on Wednesday for further talks, the union said.

The union is demanding a 14 percent rise in wages.
