Salma Hayek, in an interview to the V Magazine Spain, revealed that she entered the U.S. as an illegal immigrant. She also recalled her humble beginnings and the difficulties she faced in finding a place for herself in Hollywood as a Latina actress.

I was an illegal immigrant in the United States, Fox News quoted Hayek as saying in the interview.

It was for a small period of time, but I still did it, she added.

Discussing her involvement with women's issues, including the promotion of awareness programs about violence against women and the rising discrimination against undocumented workers, Salma said, I had to endure the worst time of all in terms of racial discrimination in Hollywood when I first started out.
