Darius finds out that President Mackenzie did not likely die of natural causes in a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 12 of CBS’ “Salvation.”

In the one-and-a-half minute video, Darius (Santiago Cabrera) meets with Harris (Ian Anthony Dale) and Grace (Jennifer Finnigan) to tell them about the recent discovery he made about Samson after a piece of space debris hit the asteroid.

“Initially, we thought Samson is made of silicates, [a] porous rock, but the collision this evening suggests it has an iron core, much denser than we thought,” the tech billionaire reveals. He goes on to say that the piece of space debris in question is “twice the size and mass of the gravity tractor.” But after it hit the asteroid, the “debris [just] vaporized on impact [and] the asteroid didn’t even blink.”

So if Darius doesn’t regain control of the gravity tractor and change its route as soon as possible, then the gravity tractor will just be destroyed once it collides with Samson. To get the problem fixed, Darius asks Harris to get him a meeting with the new president.

“I can’t do that, Darius,” the new secretary of defense tells Darius.

“Then give me back control of the GT which you so ungraciously hijacked,” Darius replies.

“It wasn’t me who hijacked it,” says Harris, before revealing that the hijack as well as President Mackenzie’s (Tovah Feldshuh) death are both part of a coup.

“Darius, this is no game,” Harris explains. “This is a coup orchestrated at the highest levels, which I am trying to stop. The only way to regain control of the gravity tractor is to regain control of the country.”

When Harris asks Darius if he’s willing to join them regain control of the country, the latter says, “Let’s take these bastards down.”

Elsewhere in the upcoming episode, as seen in the promotional photos for the hour, Grace meets with Amanda (Shazi Raja), and is reunited with her daughter Zoe (Rachel Drance). While Zoe is alive and looks well, it remains to be seen whether Dylan (André Dae Kim) has survived the government’s attack on RE/SYST’s headquarters last episode.

“Salvation” Season 1, episode 12, titled “The Wormwood Prophecy,” airs on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS. Watch the sneak peek below:
