Samantha Brick, The Daily Mail reporter who wrote an opinion piece, which seemed like more of a product of self-obsession, became an Internet sensation in 24 hours with 5,000 negative comments and more than 50,000 sharings on Facebook.

The article, The Downsides of Looking This pretty: Why Women Hate Me for Being Beautiful?, is presumptuous and attention-seeking.

The article attracted criticism worldwide and the journalist who had written about how Throughout my adult life, I've regularly had bottles of bubbly or wine sent to my restaurant table by men I don't know and how other women hate me for no other reason than my lovely looks, wrote a follow-up piece on Wednesday morning.

In the latest article, the journalist has described the last 24 hours as the most horrendous of my life but said she did not regret writing that piece.

She has admitted that while writing the previous article, she knew she was inviting trouble and provoking debate.

Yet even I could never have imagined the fury my piece would spawn and the thousands upon thousands of nasty comments I've been subjected to since it was published, she said.

She has said that people have been sending her hate mails and calling her a b****, stupid and ugly.

The article has drawn hilarious reactions from people all over the world and here are a few of them:

Just seen Samantha Brick in Greggs, she was singing Doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like me as she bought a pasty.

If Rebecca Black and Samantha Brick haven't made a record together by lunchtime then someone, somewhere needs to get fired.

That miserable homely lady that we all hated says that we only hated her because she was beautiful. We lose again!

SAMANTHA BRICK. Buy a new mirror. The one you have doesn't work properly.

I think the government should intercept Samantha Brick's e-mail, and find the one with the subject Great idea for article!!!

Hilarious. I wish I had such an inflated view of my looks

Hope the Mail are saving space tomorrow for Samantha Brick's reaction piece on the reactions to her piece about the reactions to her piece.

So what's next Samantha? Can we expect another reaction piece?
