Miss Korea -- Samsung Galaxy S 2.

The Samsung Galaxy S 2 is Samsung's prettiest in its wide portfolio of Android and Bada handsets. The Galaxy S 2 has a dual-core chip 1.2 GHz processor, is powered by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS, and sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with 800 x 480 screen resolution. Samsung Celox is actually the 4G-LTE look-alike of the Galaxy S2. The smartphone first reared its head in Korea and later its pictures were revealed by Japanese site Amelbo. Although Celox looks more like the Galaxy S2, it is much more than that.

The Celox features a massive 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 800x480 screen resolution. It is also expected that the smartphone will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 processor.

The Celox is expected to arrive with a built-in Android Gingerbread and will have an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The handset, however, is a bit heavier than the Galaxy S2 as it weighs 4.5 oz. and is 0.36-inch thick. The device is expected to be fitted with a 1750 Li-ion battery.

There is also a possibility of 800MHz LTE support and has already been scheduled for a Europe release as both AT&T and Verizon support 700MHz LTE. This news may offer a bit of a head-ache for Apple which is already having a tough time countering other smartphones in the block.

Rumors are rife that iPhone 5 will be powered by the A5 dual-core processor, which currently powers its iPad 2. Although the A5 dual-core chipset can challenge the Galaxy S2 and other NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip-based Android phones in its class, it will still not be able to match the power of dual-core 1.5GHz chipsets.

A previous report stated that Taiwan SemiConductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) had already started a trial production of the Apple A6 line of processors. It was also reported that the TSMC-manufactured A6 chipset would integrate 3D IC technology. Another report said that TSMC is in production with 3D IC technology and is in a race with Intel to manufacture a 3D IC chip. An EETimes report said that TSMC could deliver processors with 3-D interconnect by the end of the year.

The news, if true, could see a further delay in the Apple-made smartphone's arrival. However, a previous report by Computerworld stated that a few Taiwanese suppliers of Apple claimed they were starting the production of about 25 million iPhone 5 units that would be delivered in the second half of this year.

A report about Apple increasing the smartphone's size was also came into existence. It was said that Apple could increase its current iPhone screen-size from 3.5-inches to 3.7-inches. An edge-to edge display, however, was confirmed by many.

Other ongoing rumors suggest that iPhone 5 will feature an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash. Apple, reportedly, has ordered 90 percent of its 8MP camera sensors from OmniVision. On the other hand, the Qualcomm processor which Celox is rumored to sport has the capability to support a 16MP camera and the ability to capture and display 1080p stereoscopic 3D video or 8 megapixel stereoscopic still images.

The most agreed fact is that iPhone 5 will not arrive with 4G LTE-compatibility as that will contradict with Apple's plans of launching a slim smartphone. The reason for this non-inclusion is due to the Qualcomm LTE chipset that was supposed to go into the iPhone limitation, but failed to achieve sufficient yields.
