After the buzz around Galaxy S6 and Note 5 died down, rumors and leaks pertaining to mid-range Samsung handsets started making rounds. In the meantime, without much ado, the South Korean tech giant has launched the entry-level Galaxy J1 2016 edition in Dubai.

GSM Arena apparently received a photo of the 2016 version from a user who happened to stumble on to the device in Dubai's Jumbo Electronics showroom. The image spills full configuration and pricing details. Spec-wise, the Samsung Galaxy J1 features a pocket-friendly 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display, packed with 480 x 800 pixels screen resolution.

Under the hood, it comes powered by a quad-core (Exynos 3475) processor, running at 1.3 GHz and backed by 1 GB of RAM. On the software front, this phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, out of the box.

When it comes to memory configuration, this handset comes equipped with 8 GB of built-in storage capacity. Samsung has not made any changes to the camera set up in the new edition and thereby, maintaining the same 5-megapixel rear-facing sensor with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Apart from the standard connectivity options, this device supports 4G LTE. Also, there is a 2,050 mAh battery cell to keep the lights on.

The image attached above shows the Gold variant of the Galaxy J1, however, at this point, there is no information available about other options. In any case, the Gold version does offer a sense of premium-look to the entry-level handset with well-rounded corners.

Speaking of price, the Galaxy J1 2016 will reportedly set the buyers back by AED 499 in Dubai, which roughly translates to $135. As of today, Samsung has not confirmed the release date of this device outside Dubai.
