While Samsung has been busy preparing the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for a number of Galaxy devices, it looks like the first device of that kind to get the update will be the international 4G LTE version of the new Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7105).

This is the version of Galaxy Note 2 that supports LTE on 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz bands. This should not be confused with the international 3G/HSPA-only version.

An unofficial website named “Samsung Updates” has recently listed an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean version for the Galaxy Note 2 LTE with the model number GT-N7105. The site revealed that the firmware update had a build number -- N7105XXDLK7.

Android Central has reported that although the currently available firmware version has a Vodafone South Africa branding, that doesn’t mean that it won’t work on other carriers’ Galaxy Note 2 LTE devices, “assuming they carry the model number GT-N7105.”

Reports said that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update was expected to roll out over-the-air (OTA) for various Samsung devices soon. Some earlier rumors had suggested that the first Android 4.1.2 updates from Samsung would be rolled out in December or January.

In addition, rumors also have it that Android 4.2 has been in the works for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. If this information happens to be true, we could be introduced to Android 4.1.2 as a minor update shortly before 4.2 arrives.

Apart from the usual bug fixes and tweaks, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will also reportedly include subtle modifications to the way the notification shade works, allowing the notifications to be expanded with a single finger swipe down.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Gets Rooted

Owners of the Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would be glad to know that the new device had been rooted in less than a week of its release.

According to a Phandroid report, there were some teething issues initially but these had been sorted out over the past weekend and a stable root method was provided by the developer community. The method and all the required details are available over at XDA Developers.

The new root method requires Odin to flash a rooted stock firmware image. This method doesn’t require you to wipe your phone’s data unless you chose to do so after you flash the new image.

Phandroid reported that rooting the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 would allow the users to create backups, freeze unwanted apps and manipulate system-level files. Meanwhile, it should also be noted that there’s no full custom recovery or a method to unlock the bootloader as of now.

Android 4.1.2 Update Will Bring Multi-View Mode To Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The latest rumors have suggested that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will bring Gmail and YouTube apps to the multi-view mode for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2, according to the Christian Post.

The report said that multi-view on the Galaxy Note 2 would allow the users to enjoy true multi-tasking, allowing them to use two applications at the same time on the same screen.
