There have been many leaks of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 prototypes as of late, and the most recent photo suggests that the device’s display could be well over 5.99-inches.

GforGames shared an image of the purported Galaxy Note 3 prototype on Tuesday, placed in between a Sony Xperia Z and a low-end Nokia device for comparison. The prototype dwarfs both phones, but notably the Xperia Z, which is known to have a 5-inch display. This makes many Samsung enthusiasts wonder if the Galaxy Note 3 will have a display much larger than the 5.99-inches that has been commonly accepted in rumors.

Days prior, both Sam Mobile and TechTastic shared leaked photos of the Galaxy Note 3 prototype. Due to the angles of the device in the photos, it was slightly hard to take in its full size, but the prototype does appear to be the same device in both leaks.

Many suspect that this prototype has a decoy outer shell in order to hide the true design of the Galaxy Note 3. Many leaks of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in its pre-release similarly featured a plain, rectangular device, with none of the defining characteristics of a Samsung. As the Galaxy Note 3 prototype is clearly shown running Facebook, we know that it’s fully functioning. Keep in mind that Samsung developers don’t need the phone to be outfitted with its proper chassis in order to work on its software.

Rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have a design similar to that of the Galaxy S4. Many have accepted this proposal largely because its predecessors, the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, also favor each other in design.

We may also see a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with an Adreno 330 GPU on the device as well as a 13-megapixel main camera and S Pen capabilities. The Galaxy Note’s proposed 5.99-inch display will likely be Full HD, and it will likely run the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system with the Samsung TouchWiz user interface on top.

The question that remains is: How big will the Galaxy Note 3 be? Samsung is already pushing the boundaries of display size with behemoths like the Galaxy Mega, which comes in variants with 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch displays. GSM Arena proposes that the recently leaked Galaxy Note prototype may actually be a prototype of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 due to its size; however, that seems unlikely as the Galaxy Mega was unveiled and the public already knows what it looks like.

Samsung enthusiasts are looking forward to the Premiere 2013 event, which will take place in London on June 20, in order to see if the Korean manufacturer will surprise us by unveiling the Galaxy Note 3. However, most still expect the device to launch in September at the IFA Expo in Berlin. The latter seems like the most plausible as it will give a considerable amount of time for more concrete information about the Galaxy Note 3 to surface.
