The latest rumors for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 suggest it could be the most powerful smartphone in the world upon its release, packing not only an eight-core CPU but also an eight-core GPU.

Sources told SamMobile that we can expect to see the Galaxy Note 3 outfitted with the ARM Mali 450 GPU. With eight cores, the Mali 450 GPU stands to double the performance of the Mali-400 MP GPU, which is ARM’s current flagship graphics processor.

This adds to previous rumors, which indicate that the Galaxy Note 3 will run Samsung’s processing powerhouse, the Exynos 5 Octa chipset, containing a quad-core Cortex A15 processor clocking in at 2.0 GHz and a quad-core Cortex A7 processor running at 1.7 GHz.

If true, the Galaxy Note 3 will possess superior processing abilities, as well as an advanced graphics experience. In comparison, the Korean variant of the Galaxy S4 is being considered the fastest smartphone in the world, with its eight-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset clocking in at 1.8 GHz. SamMobile’s sources say the Galaxy Note 3 “phablet” will be “Samsung’s most wanted device.”

The predecessor to the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 2, was lauded as the most powerful smartphone in the world upon its September 2012 release. The device features the Exynos 4412 Quad processor clocking in at 1.6 GHz and the Mali-400MP GPU.

Further rumors suggest the Galaxy Note 3 will receive a nice upgrade in RAM to 3GB. It may also feature a 5.99-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display at 1080p, with the same diamond pixel structure see on the Galaxy S4 and a 13-megapixel camera, also derived from the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to ship with Android 4.2.2 and will possibly be upgradeable to the rumored Android 4.3; it will also feature Touch Wiz Nature UX 2.0.

There are also a number of rumors surrounding the external look. Some consider that the device may take after the recently unveiled Galaxy Mega, which sports a 5.8-inch display. The Galaxy Note 3 would likely have a thinner bezel in order to accommodate a display at 5.9-inches or larger.

According to other recent reports, Samsung is currently experimenting with three design prototypes for the Galaxy Note 3, including one with a design similar to the Galaxy S4, one with a flexible display and one with a completely new design whose details remain unknown.

Despite reports from Samsung that development on its “flexible” plastic OLED display is delayed, many are especially considering that the Galaxy Note 3 will feature a flexible display. As per a report released by the OLED Association in early April, the thinner, lighter flexible OLED display would make room in a device for beefier components, such as a larger battery. However, a CPU and a GPU with twice as many cores as before could also be an option. Currently, all rumors surrounding the Galaxy Note 3 remain unconfirmed by Samsung.

The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to be unveiled at this year's IFA Expo in Berlin this September.
