Samsung continues to shy away from its own Exynos brand of processors as the Korean manufacturer has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S4 mini will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset.

In a statement to Phone Arena, Samsung said it would use two variants of the Snapdragon 400 chipset for the 3G and 4G LTE variants of the Galaxy S4 mini; the 3G Galaxy S4 mini will run the MSM8230AP Pro, while the 4G LTE will run the MSM8930AP. Both variants will use the Adreno 305 graphics chip.

When Samsung announced its Galaxy S4 mini mid-range smartphone, it said the device would contain a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, but did not indicate which brand of chipset would power the device. Rumors had already settled on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset ever since an AnTuTu benchmark of the Galaxy S4 mini powered by the processor surfaced in a mysterious leak. Prior rumors about the device running the 1.6GHz Exynos 5210 CPU have been largely dismissed due to the fact that such a processor does not appear to exist or at least has not yet been unveiled.

The Galaxy S4 mini will take after its full-size cousin whose U.S. variant contains the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, while the international variant is powered by Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa processor.

Rumors about the Galaxy S4 mini were largely accurate, as the device will feature a 4.3-inch 960 x 540 qHD Super AMOLED display, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, with 5GB available for personal use and microSD support for up to 64GB of memory.

We will also see the Galaxy S4 mini packed with an 8-megapixel camera with TouchWiz camera features and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE and NFC for the LTE version. Some variants of the Galaxy S4 mini will feature dual SIM support. All variants will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the TouchWiz UI on top.

The Galaxy S4 mini, running its Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, is expected to have its public debut on June 20 at Samsung’s Premiere 2013 event in London. Rumored for a July release, prices for the Galaxy S4 mini have not yet been announced; however, recent rumors suggest it could cost up to 19,990 rubles in Russia. Taking the prices of the previous Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S3 mini into consideration, we propose that the Galaxy S4 mini will cost around $200 less than the Galaxy S4, which starts at $630 in the U.S.
