Verizon customers still planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 may soon be able to purchase a limited edition version of the smartphone with custom back plates and wallpapers.

Famed tipster @evleaks tweeted an image on Monday of what appears to be a Verizon ad listing the limited edition Galaxy S4. According to the ad, the device will feature back plates designed by high-end toy manufacturer Kidrobot, and users will be able to design their own wallpapers.

Thus far, we have no details from Verizon about the custom Galaxy S4; however, sources have told Phone Arena that the device will sell under another name.

But many questions remain unanswered about the custom device. Gotta Me Mobile wonders whether the Galaxy S4 custom wallpapers will be based on templates designed by Kidrobot or if it will simply allow users to apply the custom wallpaper of their choice. Android Authority conjectures that the limited edition Galaxy S4 will have a different design than the original model. According to Phone Arena, the custom back plates will only be available upon purchase on the custom Galaxy S4 and will not sell separately, suggesting that the custom the back plates won’t be compatible with other models of the Galaxy S4.

We wonder if the custom Galaxy S4 is a part of some sort of promotional contest, and we note that some of the ad’s text alludes to something along those lines.

“A phone that’s a limited edition as you are,” the ad reads. “Get creative for a chance to become the Next Big Thing.”

At the bottom of the ad are several different wallpapers with the Facebook button and like button above both. Perhaps the device is a part of a promotion that will allow users to share their custom wallpaper designs or submit their designs to be selected and made available to other custom users. Currently, all such rumors remain unconfirmed.

There is also no word on pricing or the release date for the custom Galaxy S4; however, Phone Arena’s sources say the device will land on Verizon in the near future.
