Samsung Galaxy S5 Apps XDA Developers Forum

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has not yet hit stores, but those who are tech savvy and a little bit anxious can get the Galaxy S5 apps right now.

A member of the XDA Developers Forum was able to extract the flagship apps from the Galaxy S5, including S Note, WatchON, Gear Manager, Gear Fit Manager, Calculator, S Health and S Translator. Though many of the S5 apps were previously featured on older Galaxy S devices, they have notably been revamped with a flatter, minimalist look.

Those interested in testing out these apps should keep in mind that root access is required for installation; apps can be installed as normal APK files. Tech website SamMobile also notes that installation may also require devices to run Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

There are some limitations to the extracted app files. The Gear Fit Manager will not be functional as the Gear Fit companion device has not yet released to the public. The S-Health app is reportedly also not working. Installing the new versions of the already installed apps may also cause some issues. Android Authority suggests freezing or removing these versions before installing the new versions. Head over to the XDA Developers forum for more information but find download links for the Galaxy s5 apps below.
