Best Buy is also accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 in stores as of Friday. The retailer is offering the AT&T Galaxy S5 for $229.99 with a two-year contract and the Sprint Galaxy S5 for $199.99 with a two year contract. Customers will received a free $10 Best Buy gift card with the pre-order and purchase of the Galaxy S5. Best Buy will sell the Galaxy S5 for both carriers in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White. Best Buy will also sell Samsung's companion devices, the Samsung Gear Fit, Samsung Gear 2 Neo will sell for $199 and the Samsung Gear 2 will sell for $299. In addition, Best Buy now has Galaxy S5 and Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit demo units at 100 locations for customers to test out before buying.

The Sprint Galaxy S5 is also now available for pre-order and will sell for $199.99 with a two-year contract. In addition, customers can participate in Sprint's Easy Pay plan, which offers the Galaxy S5 for $0 down and $27.09 per month for 23 months, with a final payment of $26.92. Customers who choose the Easy Pay option can also get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (which requires a two-year contract). The non-contract, full retail price of the Galaxy S5 when purchased through Sprint is $649.99. The carrier will sell the Galaxy S5 in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White. Pre-orders can be made online and in stores. Sprint will have the Galaxy S5 available in stores starting April 11; Samsung's companion devices will also be available on that date, the Samsung Gear Fit, Samsung Gear 2 Neo will sell for $199 and the Samsung Gear 2 will sell for $299.

Radio Shack is also accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 in stores as of Friday. The retailer is also offering a coupon for $50 off Galaxy S5 handsets for customers who pre-order. In addition, customers can utilize Radio Shack’s Trade & Save program and save between $75 and $300 by trading in their existing handsets. The Galaxy S5 will be available at Radio Shack starting April 11. The retailer has not yet detailed which carrier models of the Galaxy S5 it will be selling.

As the release date for the Samsung Galaxy S5 nears, U.S. carriers are now accepting pre-orders for the upcoming smartphone.

Mobile networks AT&T and U.S. Cellular will accept pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 as of Friday, and T-Mobile announced it will begin accepting pre-orders soon.

AT&T

The AT&T Galaxy S5 will sell for $199.99 with a two-year contract. In addition, consumers can participate in AT&T’s Next program: With the Next 18 plan, the Galaxy S5 will cost $25 per month for 26 months, and with the Next 12 plan, the device will sell for $32.50 per month for 20 months. The non-contract, full retail price of the Galaxy S5 when purchased through AT&T is $649.99. The carrier will sell the Galaxy S5 in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White. Pre-orders can be made online and in stores. According to AT&T, the Galaxy S5 will ship in early April, although the carrier has not given a specific date when customers will get them.

AT&T is also offering the Samsung Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo companion devices, which will be available starting Friday at $299 and $199, respectively. Customers will get $50 off either device with the purchase of a Galaxy S5 handset. The promotion is valid from March 21 to June 5.

U.S. Cellular

The U.S. Cellular Galaxy S5 will sell for $199.99 with a two-year contract, after an instant rebate, and with online pre-orders, the carrier offers a free $50 Google Play promotional code. The carrier will sell the Galaxy S5 in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White. U.S. Cellular will have the Galaxy S5 available in stores starting April 11; the Samsung Gear 2, Samsung Gear 2 Neo and Samsung Gear Fit companion devices will also be available on that date.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile recently announced that pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 will be available for pre-order starting March 24, with an introductory price of $0 down, $27.50 per month for 24-months, under T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plan. Full retail price for the Galaxy S5 on T-Mobile is $660. T-Mobile is known for changing its pricing with various deals and promotions, so it's likely the carrier will revert to requiring a down payment for the Galaxy S5, in addition to monthly payments, when the introductory period ends.

Pre-ordering can be made online and in stores, and the Galaxy S5 will be available in stores starting April 11. According to T-Mobile, customers who pre-order the Galaxy S5 by March 31 are guaranteed a handset without waiting in line. The carrier is also offering $120 off the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 to those who pre-order the smartphone before March 31.

About the Samsung Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 includes a 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a 2.5GHz quad-core ARM chip (believed to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801), 2GB mobile RAM, and 16GB and 32GB internal storage options with microSD expansion, and networking and connectivity, including 802.11ac MIMO and LTE Cat. 4 and a 2800mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is water- and dust-proof, with an Ingress Protection Rating of IP67. That means the device can function in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The 16-megapixel-rear camera on the S5 includes auto-focus technology, selective focus and HDR rich tone. The device also includes a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. New sensors on the Galaxy S5 include a heart rate sensor and fingerprint scanner. The latter acts as a simple means of security, as user verification with a finger scanner can speed up the online purchasing process. The phone also has a "private mode," which acts as a personal storage area for confidential documents, as well as a "kid mode," where parents can choose apps used by their children.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is 142.0 x 72.5 x 8.1mm, 145g in dimensions, features USB 3.0 and runs the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. The device’s exterior design features a perforated back panel and four color options: blue, white, black and gold. Samsung also has updated its onscreen environment with a less cluttered user interface and updated settings menu.
