More evidence in favor of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has surfaced as a recently leaked photo -- supposedly taken by the upcoming device. Tech informant @evleaks shared on Tuesday a blurry photo of nothing in particular; however, its accompanying EXIF data indicates that the photo was captured by a device with the model name SAMSUNG-SM-G900V, which could be a variant of the Galaxy S5.

The image 5312 by 2988 pixel image was supposedly captured by a 16-megapixel lens in 16:9 mode, with the camera featuring f/2.2 aperture and a focal length of 4.6mm. Some propose that the camera could instead have a 21-megapixel lens in 4:3 mode. The image was originally shared on social media app Flipboard by user @123fliptest, but has since been deleted. As EXIF data can easily be faked, the validity of the photo cannot be proven. Though many Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors propose the device may feature a 16-megapixel camera, the most notable information to take away from the leak is likely the SM-G900V model number.

Many propose that the model number listed on the EXIF data could be in reference to the Verizon variant of the Galaxy S5, which is currently known by model numbers in the SM-G900 series. We previously noted that several versions of this model number have been used in reference to the Galaxy S5. The SM-G900S model number, was discovered in a benchmark for a device with a QHD display; the SM-G900F model number, was discovered within a Samsung shipping manifest; the SM-G900A model number, was supposedly a devices being tested by AT&T, and the SM-G900H model number, was discovered at telecommunications authorities in Indonesia.

Even more variants of this model number have been discovered in recent days. Sources have shared with tech website SamMobile a series of supposed Galaxy S5 model numbers that correspond with different countries and different carriers. The model numbers, listed below, may have been assigned in accordance with Samsung’s region locking feature, SamMobile believes. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, features similar model numbers -- according to country and carrier, and also introduced the region lock feature, which is aimed at deterring “grey market” importers. The model number for the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 model is SM-N900V, which was leaked among many other model number variants several months before the Note 3 released. The list of supposed Galaxy S5 model numbers also includes the model number SM-G900V as the Verizon Galaxy S5 model.

Though most information about the Samsung Galaxy S5 still cannot be confirmed, model numbers are often the first accurate devices details to surface for unreleased smartphones. Model numbers for several popular Samsung devices were leaked early -- including the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. These aspects of handsets are usually easy to leak due to the fact that they don’t offer much detail about the device prior to its release.
