While everyone’s attention is focused on the upcoming Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets, Samsung quietly started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat software update to its 2-year-old device, the Galaxy S6 edge. This is based on what some owners are claiming online that they have already received and downloaded the update for their dual-edge display smartphone.

According to SamMobile, it has received tips from general users saying that the Galaxy S6 edge is already starting to get the Nougat treatment. Owners who have come out to claim this are from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany and Italy. There’s no one from the U.S. yet who has come out to claim that they have updated their handset to Android Nougat.

For the S6 edge user who is from United Kingdom, he shared that the software update was rolled out by Vodafone. SamMobile says it’s possible that the update is being rolled out to the European region for now, so other parts of the world should wait a little longer until they get the notification that says the software update has arrived.

The notification that users should watch out for must mention that following version codes: G925FXXU5EQBG, G925FVFG5EQBG and G925FXXU5EQAC. It should also indicate that the update has a download size of 1351.87 MB. Most of all, it should be labeled as “OS upgrade - Android 7.0 Nougat.”

Early this year, Samsung rolled out Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Then, reports saying the company is bringing the much anticipated update to the S6 edge surfaced. It was then revealed that Samsung could be launching it to the device in February. Unfortunately, the tech giant decided to delay the update a bit to ensure that it will not have hiccups and issues at launch, as first reported by Android Headlines.
