Samsung Galaxy S7 Android 7.0 Nougat Update: T-Mobile Download Now Available

The Android 7.0 Nougat update is hitting T-Mobile handsets as of as of Thursday evening. Several users have reported to tech blogs, including Android Police that T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users in Samsung’s Android Nougat beta program are now receiving the official software.

The network-wide update is expected to soon follow. The rollout had been considerably speedy considering T-Mobile began testing the Android 7.0 Nougat software a little over two weeks ago.

Users are receiving the NRD90M software build, which will take Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge handsets from Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to Android 7.0 Nougat. The software is 117MB in weight. Users should have devices connected to Wi-Fi and charged to at least 50 percent before attempting to download and install.

Beta users can access Settings > Software Update > Software Manual Download to begin installation. General T-Mobile network users should expect a wireless update to hit devices. T-Mobile’s software support page has not yet been updated to reflect the new software. This may occur once the update begins hitting devices not in the beta program.

Now that T-Mobile had begun rolling out Android Nougat on to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, updates for other U.S. carriers including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and U.S. Cellular should be not far down the pipeline. However, at this point, update times are strictly at the jurisdiction of the carriers.

Android 7.0 Nougat includes such new and upgraded features as interface and performance tweaks, improvements to notifications, quick settings, multiwindow and the always-on display features and upgrades to speeds for storage usage, app installation and system updates. The update also includes the February security patch from Google.
