Sasmung Galaxy S7 Series 1
The results of the custom battery test specific to the recently launched Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, powered by Snapdragon 820, do not look promising. Samsung

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge come housed with much-bigger batteries of 3,000 mAh and 3,600 mAh units, respectively. In comparison, the predecessor Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ feature 2,550 mAh and 3,000 mAh cells, respectively. With a bigger battery unit, we would expect the battery life of S7 to be better when compared to the predecessor. However, the results are not promising.

Phone Arena apparently subjected the new Galaxy S7 series of handsets to its custom battery test. Thereby, the flagship S7 apparently clocked only 6 hours and 37 minutes of battery life. The Galaxy S6, on the other hand, reportedly churned out 7 hours and 14 minutes of battery life. Even with a bigger battery capacity, the latest flagship did not give out impressive battery life.

Phone Arena apparently used Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S7 variant for the custom battery test. This model comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. The site also noted that the brightness level of the device was kept at 200 nits on all the devices that participated in the test.

The Galaxy S7 Edge, on the other hand, was able to give just 7 hours and 18 minutes of battery life with a monumental 3,600 mAh cell on board. Apparently, the same Snapdragon 820 chipset powers the Edge variant as well. The predecessor Galaxy S6 Edge+ reportedly clocked a good 9 hours and 29 minutes.

Needless to say, both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have given out underwhelming results in the custom battery test. Phone Arena said there is a good possibility that Samsung’s own Exynos powered Galaxy S7 variants might do well when compared to the Qualcomm ones.

Here is the full result of the custom battery test conducted by Phone Arena:
