Samsung is preparing to release another iPhone 5 competitor at the IFA event in Germany in September, Yahoo Korea has reported.

The Galaxy Q is rumored to come with the biggest screen in the market, between the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab (a 7-inch tablet that doubles the size of a smartphone).

With 5.3 inches, Galaxy Q would be larger than Samsung’s 4.5-inch Infuse 4G or Dell’s Streak Tablet.

Not much is heard about the handset apart from the fact that it will certainly come with a Samsung Exynos dual core SoC and will be compatible on both LTE and WCDMA networks.

The handset is expected to come with a HD-ready screen resolution with a Super AMOLED Plus screen and an opening for Honeycomb as an operating system rather than Gingerbread.

It also casts a shadow on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch product, which is already obsolete and may get sidelined as Samsung ramps up production of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 soon.

The device hasn’t been officially confirmed by Samsung, whether it will reach the U.S. or not, though the IFA hints at a more international focus.
