New York Giants News: Giants Top Passing Game Preps for San Francisco Rush
New York quarterback Eli Manning has thrown for 1,579 yards and 10 touchdowns for the 3-2 Giants this season. New York last played San Francisco in the last season's NFC title game, and Manning was sacked six times for a loss of 49 yards. Reuters

The San Francisco 49ers will look for a measure of revenge as they take the football field on Sunday. Their 2011 season was ended by the New York Giants in the NFC Championship Game, and the two teams are set to play again on Sunday afternoon.

It’ll be the third time the clubs face each other in the last two years. The Giants beat the 49ers 20-17 en route to making the Super Bowl.

The contest is set to kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX at Candlestick Park. You can also watch a live stream online by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket Max.

Alex Smith struggled mightily in last year’s playoff game. He completed 12 of 26 passes for 196 yards. The quarterback was under constant pressure from the Giants defensive line, completing just three throws to wide receivers.

New York’s defensive line was dominant during their postseason run, but it hasn’t been nearly as good in 2012. They are tied for 25th in the NFL with eight sacks. Veteran Justin Tuck still hasn’t taken down the quarterback this season.

Part of the Giants defensive struggles can be explained by injuries. Safety Kenny Philips will miss his second straight game.

On the offensive side, New York is getting healthier. Hakeem Nicks should play, despite problems with his foot. Eli Manning has been without the wide receiver for the past three weeks.

The 49ers offensive attack consists of a few former Giants. Super XXVII hero Mario Manningham and running back Brandon Jacobs signed with San Francisco in the offseason. Jacobs has yet to play this season because of a knee injury, and he will sit once again.

Betting Line: San Francisco-7, 46.5

Prediction: At 4-1, the 49ers may be the best team in the NFC. They have a dominating defense and Alex Smith finally has a few weapons on offense. The Giants should be able to keep it close, but it’s hard to pick against San Francisco at home.

Predicted Score: San Francisco 24, New York 17
