There's no such thing as a successful red carpet for fashionista pundits without a good wardrobe malfunction to mock the next day, and thanks to Sarah Hyland of Modern Family, the 2012 Golden Globes was no exception.

When arriving on the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, 21-year-old Hyland almost had a nip slip but thanks to quick reflexes, saved her dress and her dignity in what could have been an epically bad wardrobe malfunction.

E! News host Guiliana Rancic caught glimpse of the almost eternally-embarrassing, near malfunction from afar on the red carpet and was the first to interview Hyland.

I'm laughing, Rancic said, because I saw your zipper break on the red carpet! And I was like, 'E! Send a camera right over there!'

I was just standing there waiting to come up here, Hyland said when the zipper of her dress broke. I just felt an explosion in my back. And I felt my dress start to slip, and I grabbed it before it was too late. I'm now sewn in my dress.

You are so tiny -- there is no reason a zipper should ever explode on you, Rancic said to Hyland who said she did not go on any diets and ate too much McDonald's in preparation for the awards show.

It happens, Hyland simply responded after the incident, where she was seen giving a thumbs up while an on-hand seamstress stitched up her vintage nude lace Dolce & Gabbana dress.

Modern Family was nominated for three awards including Best Comedy Series at the 2012 Golden Globes.
