Many people from the Internet came to Phil Robertson’s side after he was suspended from “Duck Dynasty,” but he found one of his biggest supporters in Sarah Palin. The former Alaska governor wrote a post on her Facebook page that wound up garnering more than 20,000 Facebook comments and more than 50,000 shares.

Many have petitioned to get him back on the show, called IStandWithPhil.com.

“Free speech is an endangered species. Those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us,” the former politician said, and posted a photo showing her standing with the “Duck Dynasty” cast.

She met the cast earlier this month when she stopped by Monroe, La., while she was on her book tour. Palin wrote a few comments directed at the cast. "Christians have a right too! I support you Phil,” she said, according to quotes cited by USA Today. "Good for you Phil Robertson God Bless you and your sweet family."

"Christians needs to stand up for the word of GOD,” read one post. "The Truth is hard to hear, but keep preaching, Phil,” said another.

The patriarch of the Robertson family was essentially kicked off the hit A&E show after his anti-gay comments in a GQ interview went viral on the internet. Robertson couldn’t understand how a man would rather an “anus” over a “vagina.”

Check out his comments from the interview:

"It seems to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man's anus," he explained. "That's just me. I'm just thinking, 'There's more there! She's got more to offer.' I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."

Various different conservatives have exercised support for Palin, but none has been as well received as the former vice presidential candidate. She continued to generate support into Thursday night, getting nearly 350,000 likes on her post geared towards the Duck Commander founder.
