Savannah Brinson, the wife of Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James, remained quiet throughout the NBA Finals, despite all the drama both on and off the court. But after the pop singer Rihanna posted thirsty Instagram images about King James being her “bae” following the Cavs’ championship win Sunday night, many fans wanted the reserved Brinson to retaliate.

But that's not Brinson’s style. When James was accused of having an affair with an Instagram model, neither he nor his wife responded. They exhibited the same restraint when Ayesha Curry, the wife of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, claimed the NBA was rigged after the Cavs won Game 6 of the Finals. She then indirectly slammed James. So even though Rihanna’s posts were arguably disrespectful to Brinson and her marriage, it’s not surprising Brinson ignored them.

The Barbadian beauty penned a series of posts about James, beginning when the Cavs beat the Warriors in Game 6. She posted a throwback photograph of herself in a bikini with James’ number, 23, drawn on her body. Then, when the Cavs clinched the league championship, she posted a photo of James holding his NBA Finals MVP trophy. “Who y’all think y’all frontin’ on?” she wrote. The post was liked more than 564,000 times by her 40 million followers.

Bae! Lol _____

Until then, it had appeared as though Rihanna was just a big fan of James. But things arguably took a turn toward thirsty in her next post. Holding a glass of wine, she posed in front of a TV set with James’ image inthe frame, and wrote in the caption: “Bae! Lol.” (For those who don’t know, “bae” stands for before anyone else, and is usually used to call a significant other “babe” or “baby.”) The post was liked almost 400,000 times and drew thousands of comments.

While most of Rihanna’s followers found her posts about James cute, others told a different story on Twitter.
