Savannah Guthrie made her debut on the Today show just a day after Anne Curry gave her teary goodbye. Curry was let go from the show on Thursday after being Lauer's co-host for a year.

On Friday's morning show Guthrie chatted with Lauer about the Colorado wildfires and the Supreme Court's decision on health care as if nothing on the show had changed.

Guthrie casually opened with I'm Savannah Guthrie.

It's not definite whether or not Guthrie has a full-time position with NBC's morning show, but was happy to slip into Anne Curry's former chair. The network did not announce either of the co-hosts like they normally do, nor did they run their names at the bottom of the screen.

But don't feel sorry for Curry, she has a new gig lined up as foreign correspondent for NBC. Though she doesn't have an official day that she is starting, Curry has confessed she will be working at the London Olympics, the Daily News reported.

The Today show was the top rated morning show for 15 years, but Good Morning America is gaining on popular show, tying them in ratings for the first time in years.

However, Today has been able to pull ahead in their ratings, probably because of Curry's departure from the show.

Curry's fans don't want her to leave the Today show and even posted petitions on Twitter to get their favorite co-host to stay.

Katie Couric was among those who expressed their sympathy via Twitter a week before Curry's ultimate departure from the Today show.

Do you think Savannah Guthrie will build as big of a fan base as Anne Curry?
