“Scandal” fans should mark their calendars. Season 3 of the hit ABC series comes to a close April 17, and the finale is definitely a must watch.

Last time viewers left off, Maya Pope (aka Momma Pope or Marie Wallace) was on the loose with a bomb and bent on destruction. Pope & Associates teamed up with Rowan in an attempt to catch her, but Olivia’s mother succeeded in fooling them all. Leading them to believe that she was going to bomb the high school Fitz was speaking at, Rowan sent his daughter there in an effort to stop Maya from going through with the move. And it appeared to work … until Olivia returned to her office to find Rowan in a pool of blood. As Olivia desperately worked to save her father, Jake and David Rosen discovered what Maya truly had planned.

Surveillance footage revealed that Maya had killed Senator Hightower, and planted the bomb at his funeral. In the most shocking move in episode 17, Jake made the call to Cyrus … who after learning that Sally Langston was already at the church, decided not to tell anybody about the bomb’s location. The episode also found Olivia learning about Mellie’s paternity issues regarding Big Jerry; Rowan shooting Maya’s longtime lover, Dominic Bell; and Quinn and Huck finally hooking up.

So, where does that leave “Scandal” fans for the season finale? According to a leaked synopsis for episode 18, “The Price of Free and Fair Elections,” the finale will take place on Election Day.

“Nothing is off limits as the candidates try to capture votes,” teases the synopsis. But if episode 17 took place a few days before the election and Maya triggered the bomb, does that mean that the season finale will time jump?

The finale will find Olivia struggling with trying to understand her mother’s motives, which has us wondering if Olivia’s just feeling guilty … or if Maya has more death and destruction up her sleeves.

It sounds like Quinn and Huck might also be feeling a little guilty by the end of the episode. The finale synopsis reveals that Charlie will be making a “very surprising move.” Does this mean that Charlie will find out about Quinn and Huck’s steamy hookup?
