Countless people have died on “Scandal,” but nothing was more traumatizing than the final moments of episode 19 when Jake (Scott Foley) was getting stabbed by Olivia’s (Kerry Washington) new boy toy, Russell (Brian White). A promo video following the episode stated that the former B613 agent turned Gladiator was dead … but can fans trust ABC?

The synopsis for episode 20 teases that the “team taking down B613 is in serious danger” – which is nothing new. Besides the attack on Jake last week, Rosen (Joshua Malina) was almost killed by his longtime assistant, who turned out to be an undercover agent for Olivia’s dad, Rowan (Joe Morton). Charlie (George Newbern) also decided to flee town after former B613 agents who were ready to talk ended up dead. But things are different now, thanks to Jake. The episode description continues that Olivia and the others will be “forced to take drastic measures to ensure their safety.” Could that be a hint that Jake’s not dead?

“Scandal” fans know by now to expect some serious twists and turns, and one of them could be Jake’s fate. It’s important to note that Olivia gave her former beau an interesting look before he ended up at the Pope & Associates office. Fingers crossed that viewers don’t have to lose the sexiness that is Scott Foley.

Episode 20 won’t focus just on Jake. Mellie (Bellamy Young) will also be in the spotlight in the episode, which is titled “First Lady Sings the Blues.” The synopsis reveals that Mellie will be left mortified “when the nation turns against her.” The real shocker, though, is that Cyrus (Jeff Perry) will be “forced to come to her defense.”

“Scandal” Season 4, episode 20 will air on ABC Thursday, April 23 at 9 p.m. EDT.
