Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield) has a lot of things to do in the premiere episode of “Scandal” Season 6.

In the sneak peek released by ABC (via Spoilers Guide), the White House chief of staff arrives at the hospital to confront Agent Spalding. She tells him that no one should be allowed to enter the hospital, and the surrounding areas should also be secured immediately. Abby added that no signal should be available within the premises, so that no one can contact them while they are busy with their tasks.

Unfortunately, Agent Spalding did not agree with anything that Abby told him. He tells her that it’s his team and that he’s the one in charge. Before he could even finish his sentence, Abby cuts him off and tells him, “No.” She went on by contradicting everything that Agent Spalding said, reminding him that it’s her operation and team, not his.

Earlier this month, Stanchfield spoke with Entertainment Weekly about her character’s involvement in the premiere episode. According to the actress, Abby will have an impactful monologue, and it seems that she was talking about this particular scene from the sneak peek. “We pick up Season 6 and Abby is still Chief of Staff. The difference so far is we see Abby is starting to get comfortable with her power. It’s been a long climb, a struggle, and a claw to get into the bubble of the White House. Now she’s really running the show and nobody seems to notice; it’s great,” she said.

Meanwhile, “Scandal” Season 6, episode 1 will also see Quinn (Katie Howles) and Huck (Guillermo Diaz) attempting to save an unnamed woman. When they reach the cabin to talk to her, it explodes right before their very eyes. As of late, it is still unknown why Quinn and Huck are trying to reach out to her.

“Scandal” Season 6, episode 1 will air on ABC on Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST.
