Samsung Galaxy S smartphones has touched 10 million sales worldwide. Now the question remains what made this line of smartphone tick around the world?

The Galaxy S line smartphones superior all-round performance in every aspect as a smartphone should have caught the attention of the viewers. The smartphone from Samsung was listed by TIME as number 2 device in 'Top 10 Gadgets' of 2010 and that should be due to its Super AMOLED display, as Samsung and LG are the only manufacturers of AMOLED display screen as of now.

Reviewers and Critics alike had given good ratings for Samsung Galaxy S line smartphones overall.

One glitch that stood against the Galaxy S was its almost non functional GPS, but that problem also has been taken care of.

In US the Galaxy S smartphones where released by different carriers in different names. AT&T released the smartphone as Samsung Captivate (SGH-I879), T-Mobile version was known as the Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959), the Sprint called it Samsung Epic 4G (SPH-D700), Verizon released it as Samsung Fascinate (SCH-I500), Cellular South and US Cellular currently offers Galaxy S models as Samsung Showcase and Samsung Mesmerize respectively and finally Verizon also released a Samsung Continuum (SCH-I400) model.

The Samsung Galaxy S line of smartphones just varies a bit in size and other features but apart from that Samsung Galaxy S smartphones features a display of 4-inch Super AMOLED display which is covered by Gorilla Glass, a special crack and scratch resistant material. With a Hummingbird processor, it clocks at 1GHz which is ideal for tuning up gaming applications without a stop.

Galaxy S smartphone features Froyo (Android 2.2) OS, a 512MB RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of memory depending on the model. And all the models have up to 32GB microSD support. It has PowerVR SGX 540 graphics support card. There is a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and supports 720p HD Video. Galaxy S weighs between 118 g (4.2 oz) and 155 g (5.46 oz).

It supports multimedia file audio formats like (FLAC, WAV, Vorbis, MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, MID, AC3, XMF), video codecs (mpeg4, H.264, H.263, Sorenson codec, DivX HD/ XviD, VC-1) and video formats (3GP (MPEG-4), WMV (Advanced Systems Format), AVI (divx), MKV, FLV).
