Netflix just dropped the official teaser for “Thirteen Reasons Why,” and executive producer Selena Gomez immediately shared it on her Instagram account.

According to Variety, Gomez read the book and immediately got on board with one of Netflix’s latest projects.

“Thirteen Reasons Why” is based on Jay Asher’s novel of the same title. It follows the life of Hannah (Katherine Langford) who commits suicide. After her death, Clay (Dylan Minnette) receives a shoe box filled with cassette tapes from Hannah, who also happens to be his former crush. Hannah instructs Clay to pass the shoe box along from one classmate to the next, so they’ll know how they contributed to Hannah’s demise.

On her Instagram account, Gomez shared a copy of the eerie video that has received more than five million views. The singer called it a “passion project” and announced that “Thirteen Reasons Why” will be released on March 31.

The series also stars Kate Walsh as Mrs. Baker, Brian d’Arcy James as Andy Baker, Derek Luke as Mr. Porter, Amy Hargreaves as Lainie Jensen, Miles Heizer as Alex, Devin Druid as Tyler, Alisha Boe as Jessica, Ross Butler as Zach, Brandon Flynn as Justin, Christian Navarro as Tony and Justin Prentice as Bryce.

According to Deadline, Gomez is joined by Tom McCarthy, Diana Son and Anonymous Content’s Joy Gorman, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin as executive producers for “Thirteen Reasons Why.” Filming for the series began in June 2016.

Just a few days after their first filming session, the cast of “Thirteen Reasons Why” had already developed a close relationship with each other. Butler posted a photo from the set of the Netflix series and called his co-stars “family.”
