Selena Gomez And The Weeknd Use Mistakes From Past Relationships To Create ‘Mature’ Love

Although they are rumored to have begun dating towards the end of 2016, it looks like Selena Gomez and The Weeknd are still reaching new heights in their relationship. The couple, who made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala, are at a stage in their romance in which the are both equally in love with one another.

Interestingly enough, Gomez’s past relationship with Justin Bieber and The Weeknd’s previous relationship with Bella Hadid helped the two artists create the perfect relationship with each other.

Sources told E! News that Gomez is in love with The Weeknd, and their relationship is unlike any other she has had in the past. “This love is very mature and she is in a different head space now,” the insider told the media outlet.

“She has really found who she is and what makes her happy. She loves Abel and he loves her. They have gotten to know each other very well and have learned from their past relationships what they want and don’t want,” the source explained.

Gomez and The Weeknd’s relationship and constant PDA seemed to have caused bitter feelings with their exes. After photos surfaced of the two kissing in January, Hadid unfollowed the “Same Old Love” singer on Instagram. By April, the model also unfollowed her ex-boyfriend.

During an interview with Teen Vogue, Hadid admitted she was devastated following her breakup with The Weeknd. “As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it’s always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily,” she told the publication.

Meanwhile, reports began to surface that Bieber felt like Gomez didn’t actually care for the “Starboy” singer and instead was using him to promote new music. Sources told TMZ the “Purpose” artist believed his ex-girlfriend was practicing a method she typically uses, which is dating the artist she plans on collaborating with. Despite his theories, The Weeknd and Gomez are still together and a collaborative song has yet to be released.

After three years of a rocky relationship, Gomez and Bieber finally ended their romance for good in 2014. During an interview with W magazine in 2016, the singer admitted she ended the relationship because she was “so exhausted.”

“I honestly am so done. I care about his health and well-being. But I can’t do it anymore,” she told the publication.

Although she may be done with her previous romance, Gomez and her current boyfriend seem to be settling into their relationship just fine.

The two even came up with different ways to keep things romantic when their busy schedules keep them apart. “When they are not together they text and FaceTime and keep connected,” a source told E! News.

“They love to just chill and be a pretty normal couple — like go to the movies, order in and watch TV. They seem serious and like this is the real deal,” the insider added.

Although Hollywood relationships are known for ending just as quickly as they start, it looks Gomez and The Weeknd’s romance is just heating up.
