Senators announced an agreement on Wednesday between the House and Senate to present a final $789 billion economic stimulus bill to President Barack Obama in a bid to help the economy begin a recovery from recession.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada said the differences between both legislative chambers were resolved, he said in a news conference according to the New York Times.

A representative for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House was moving very rapidly toward announcing a deal.

Reid said negotiators had reached a middle ground and that Congress could vote on the plan in a few days.
