Oscars 2013 host Seth MacFarlane has been labeled the worst host of the awards show ever, and it may have to do with his offensive joke about Rihanna, Chris Brown and the slavery film, “Django Unchained.”

As MacFarlane hosted the Oscars, he made numerous uncomfortable jokes, beginning with his opening monologue Sunday night. He sang a song titled, "We saw your Boobs," about actresses who showed their breasts in movies, leading to mixed reactions from the crowd.

But one of the most cringe-worthy jokes may have been one regarding Rihanna and Chris Brown.

When introducing the film “Django Unchained,” which won the original screenplay Oscar, MacFarlane said to the audience, "This is the story of a man fighting to get back his woman, who's been subjected to unthinkable violence.

Or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, a date movie."

The crowd simply gasped at the joke.

The couple recently rekindled their romance after breaking up in 2009, when Brown domestically assaulted the singer while driving. She ended up with a black eye, a bruised lip, and even bite marks after the incident.

Viewers of the Oscars 2013 took to twitter to express their disappointment in the Rihanna and Chris Brown joke. “After hearing bits of Seth MacFarlane #Oscards hosting on @npr, glad I missed it. The Rihanna/Chris Brown joke make me abhor him even more,” wrote @ElizabethM_J.

“Just heard Seth MacFarlane's Rihanna/ChrisBrown/DjangoUnchained "joke." Wow. Because domestic violence is HILARIOUS. #wrong,” said @JauDee941.

In February, Rihanna was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and admitted that being with Brown fulfills her, even if the media is not accepting of their relationship.

"I decided it was more important for me to be happy, and I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that,” she said.

“Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."
