“Shades of Blue” Season 3 will introduce a new character named Detective Cole, and he will be played by Nick Wechsler.

According to Deadline, other details about Detective Cole are still being kept under wraps. But it’s possible that he could be a friend or a foe for Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) and Michael Wozniak’s (Ray Liotta) team. There are also some speculations suggesting that Detective Cole could be a new love interest for Harlee. In Season 2, the lead character faced problems with her relationship with Nava (Gino Anthony Pesi).

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Wechsler will be working with NBC. According to TV Line, the actor previously starred in six episodes of “Chicago P.D.,” where he played the role of Kenny Brixton. Wechsler’s other TV credits include his role in ABC’s primetime soap, “Revenge,” and in the upcoming The CW drama, “Dynasty.”

“Shades of Blue” received a Season 3 renewal in March, and NBC president Jennifer Salke confirmed that the show will continue to air on Sundays at 10 p.m. However, unlike Season 2, Season 3 will only have a total of 10 episodes.

Following the renewal, Salke released a statement expressing her excitement over Lopez and Wozniak’s partnership, among several other things. “We’re so hugely appreciative of everything Jennifer and Ray do, and know it is due to their dedication, as well as the hard work of our incredible cast and producers, that ‘Shades of Blue’ has clearly and compellingly earned a third-season renewal,” she said.

As of late, the official release date for “Shades of Blue” Season 3 hasn’t been announced yet by NBC. But according to TV Line, episode 1 will air sometime next year. Season 1 premiered on Jan. 7, 2016, while Season 2 premiered on March 5 this year.

The series also stars Warren Kole as Robert Stahl, Drea de Matteo as Tess Nazario, Dayo Okeniyi as Michael Loman, Hampton Fluker as Marcus Tufo, Vincent Laresca as Carlos Espada, Sarah Jeffery as Christina Santos, Leslie Silva as Gail Baker, Anna Gunn as Julia Ayres, Margaret Colin as Linda Wozniak and more.
