If Shaunie O’Neal had her way, DJ Duffey wouldn’t be one of the cast members on Season 5 of VH1’s “Basketball Wives: LA.” Shaunie, who serves as a producer and cast member on the reality show, opened up about the current season and revealed that she initially was against Duffey joining the series because she didn’t think the DJ was “qualified.”

“The vote went against me on this one because they [the other producers] thought it brought a new angle [with] the agent side, and she’s this DJ and that whole lifestyle,” Shaunie told VH1.com Thursday, adding that she doesn’t think Duffey’s storyline has translated well on TV.

“I think the fiancé ended up not really wanting to shoot and it just was flat,” she explained. “So her story didn’t quite meet up to the expectations that some of the producers said. … I never sit back and say, ‘I told you so,’ but I’ll be like, ‘So, you guys see that didn’t work out so well, so what we gone do next?’”

This isn’t the first time Shaunie has made it clear that she’s not a fan of Duffey. Earlier this month, she told VH1 that she thought Brandi Maxiell’s BFF talked “out of turn” too much. “Sometimes she interjects when we kind of don’t need that interjection, which can get her in a little bit of trouble,” she said. “It’s a method to this madness, and I think Duffey is struggling with finding that method.”

Fans would probably agree that Duffey has found herself in some trouble this season on “Basketball Wives: LA.” The newbie has been at odds with Tami Roman, Shaunie’s close friend, just about all season. Things escalated between them after Tami fired Duffey as the director of her daughter’s music video. In a sneak peek of Sunday’s episode, Tami made it clear that she’s not happy Duffey is on the girls trip to Portugal. “I really don’t like Duffey, she’s a big disappoint to me and I have the right to not want to be around her,” Tami told the cameras during her confessional.

“Basketball Wives: LA” Season 5 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on VH1.
