Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg is taking up her late husband David Goldberg's mantle by joining the board of directors at SurveyMonkey, the tech company where Goldberg served as CEO before his sudden death in May. “Ever since Dave joined SurveyMonkey six years ago, I watched him and his team execute on their mission to help people make better decisions,” Sandberg said in a statement released by SurveyMonkey, a company that lets users easily create online surveys. “I’m looking forward to working with the board and this amazing team and help to realize Dave’s vision of building a lasting company that will impact the way we all do business for years to come.”

Goldberg served as SurveyMonkey CEO since 2009. He died of head trauma after an accident while on vacation in Mexico. Sandberg has spoken publicly about her experience dealing with Goldberg's death in multiple Facebook posts that have gone viral.

SurveyMonkey announced that Lyra Health CEO David Ebersman also will be joining the company's board. The company also said that Zander Lurie, its temporary executive chairman, will assume the role permanently.

The board changes are an effort to stabilize the Palo Alto, California, firm. Over the past two months, SurveyMonkey has had to deal with other tech companies trying to poach its employees.

“We are thrilled to have Sheryl and David join our board. They are talented business leaders with deep operational and financial expertise who will provide valuable perspective to our management team,” said Lurie in a statement. “With their strategic input, SurveyMonkey will be even better positioned to scale our profitable business.”
