James Gunn, the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” has revealed details about at least two characters from the Marvel comic books that will not be in the movie, "The Belco Experiment." Meanwhile, a new trailer of the animation series of the franchise has surfaced online.

The script of “The Belco Experiment” is also being written by Gunn. Answering a question on a Facebook post about the movie, the director said the characters of the Shi’ar species as well as the comic book character Kang will not feature in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel.

The rights to these characters are apparently with Fox, and Gunn may not have permission to use them in his sequel movie.

According to the storyline in the comic books, the Shi’ar are an alien species who are very much like the humans. They are technologically advanced and are rulers of the Shi’ar Galaxy. The character Kang was one of the villains who fought with the “Fantastic Four” and has also appeared in some of the comic books of the “Avengers” franchise.

Following the popularity of the 2014 “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, an animation series had been announced. This new video posted on YouTube shows new footage from the highly anticipated animation TV series.

The clip shows the two popular characters, Rocket Raccoon and his friend Groot. The two characters appear to be escaping from a prison after Rocket steals a spaceship. The clip then goes on to show the official trailer of the TV series that was released previously.

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” is slated to be released in May 2017. The production of the movie has still not begun and the director has not revealed the official plot of the movie or the list of characters featuring in the movie.
