Over the weekend, Atlus released the official trailer for the remake of “Shin Megami Tensei.” The Japanese video game developer and publisher also opened the official website for the new Nintendo 3DS game that is slated for release this fall.

Based on the teaser trailer, the remake is launching with the title “Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey.” Persona Central has also learned that the remake will be a refined version of the original with the addition of more interesting elements such as an opening animation, some cutscenes and voice acting. There is also information on improved gameplay that will now enable players to save their progress at any time, especially when they are examining dungeons.

Siliconera reports that the 2017 version will come with extra content to give it distinction over the original game. Some features that will be added to the remake will also make it easier to play and navigate compared to the 2009 game.

When fans get their hands on “Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey,” they will also be introduced to a new character named Alex, who is voiced by Megumi Han. The mysterious character is said to be after the protagonist and it is said to lead players to a different ending path for the game.

Crunhcyroll says Atlus has prepared over 350 demons for the new 3DS RPG. Masayuki Doi is revealed to be responsible for the new demon design. Shoji Meguro and Toshiki Konishi, on the other hand, composed the soundtrack of the game. Eiji Ishida is reported to be the director of the remake.

The remake of “Shin Megami Tensei” was originally announced back in January. Though no exact release date was given yet, Atlus has already confirmed that the game is coming to the Nintendo 3DS this fall in Japan. No details yet on when U.S.-based players can expect the game to arrive. More updates about the game will be released through its official website soon.

“Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey” is the fourth installment in the franchise. The large-scale RPG for the 3DS portable gaming machine follows the story of a special task force that is assigned to investigate a spatial distortion in Antarctica known as Schwarzwelt.

The original game was released in Japan on Oct. 8, 2009. It was then launched in the North America market on March 23, 2010.
