The Associated Press reports the shooter used a rifle in the incident, and a teacher was injured in the shooting.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.:

The Associated Press reports the shooter was found dead as the police arrived at the school. Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber issued a statement on the shooting. Governor Kitzhader said in the statement, "My heart is heavy after learning of this morning's tragic events at Reynolds High School. Today Oregon hurts as we try to make sense of a senseless act of violence. Please keep students, staff, the extended Reynolds community and first responders in your thoughts and prayers."

According to NBC, authorities say the shooter fatally shot one student at the high school.

UPDATE 12:46 p.m.:

The shooter opened fire with a semi-automatic weapon at the beginning of the school day, officials say. Students fled the school once gunshots were heard.

"We are still checking the building," Sue Strickland, police records specialist for the Troutdale police, told USA TODAY. "We have about 40-50 units out there. We have several SWAT teams in the building right now and they are checking to make sure that they've got things under control. A semi-automatic weapon was used and there are injuries."

UPDATE 12:24 p.m.:

The Multanomah County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the shooter at the high school is dead, reports local TV station King 5. Officials added that the situation has "stabilized."

UPDATE 12:08 p.m.:

Portland police told CBS that there are injuries, but no fatalities have been reported. It is unknown if the injuries are related to the shooting. CBS reporter Charlie Kaye tweeted that a local KOIN reporter said students were being led out of the school with their hands in the air. The reporter also said officers no longer had their guns drawn.

UPDATE 12:03 p.m.:

KPTV reports the wife of a vice principal at Reynolds High School told the station she received a text message from her husband saying there is an active shooter at the school and the school is on lockdown.

Law enforcement sources say gunshots were reportedly fired at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon, according to KOIN 6 News in Oregon. Police are on the scene.

Several agencies are responding to the reported shooting, with 60 police and sheriff’s units and 19 medical personnel said to be on the scene.
