Silver production last quarter at Alexco Resource Corp.'s Bellekeno Mine in Canada's Yukon Territories mine rose eight percent, the Vancouver-based company said Monday.

Alexco produced 500,703 ounces of silver in the July-through-September period compared with 464,324 in the April-through-June period.

Mill throughput rose 14 percent over the second-quarter level.

The Bellekeno operation continues to steadily ramp up the production curve, with solid and improving performance in this third full quarter of commercial operation, Clynt Nauman, Alexco CEO said in a statement. The increased silver production coupled with improved mill throughput is particularly pleasing, as it reflects a superior effort by our operations group to deliver results while continuing to debottleneck and improve efficiencies in the mill.

Alexco owns 100 percent of the historic Keno Hill Silver District of the Yukon with a current total resource of 23 million ounces of silver.
