The Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, will stay in hospital for another following an attack at a political rally in Milan, the Telegraph reported.

Berlusconi suffered a fractured nose and two broken teeth after being struck in the face by a mentally disturbed man wielding a statuette of the Milan cathedral.

The 73-year-old Berlusconi was rushed to the San Raffaele hospital in Milan with his face covered in blood after the attack in the northern Italian city Sunday afternoon.

Massimo Tartaglia, 42, was charged with grievous bodily harm and held overnight, Milan police said.
