Good news for fans of “Pitch Perfect:” the third installment in the musical movie series has already been confirmed. The bad news is: Skylar Astin won’t be part of it.

The actor took to Twitter to share the news. Responding to a fan’s query, Astin said: “Yes. As of now, the Trebles and I won’t be in the third ‘Pitch Perfect’ movie. They seem to be taking the story in a different direction.”

While Astin and the rest of the Trebles won’t be seen in the new installment, new faces will grace the film. It has recently been confirmed that “Orange is the New Black” actress Ruby Rose is in talks to join the movie, according to Variety.

While things are still up in the air, Elizabeth Banks, who plays the role of Gail in the movie series, hinted that Rose might be part of the movie series by posting a photo of them on Instagram.

“This gorgeous talented spirit brought some needed excitement to life recently,” Banks captioned their photo.

Banks, who directed the second installment of the movie series, was supposed to direct the upcoming installment. However, the actress decided to let another director take her place because her schedule has become incredibly tight. Trish Sie has been tapped to take over for her, but she will remain a producer for the movie.

Shortly after the second film was released, Banks said she already has an idea of what the third installment’s story would tackle. Details have yet to be released, though.

Returning for the third installment are Anna Kendrick (Beca), Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy), Brittany Snow (Chloe) and Hailee Steinfeld (Emily). Also returning is Kay Cannon, who wrote the script for the first two films in the series.

“Pitch Perfect 3” will hit theaters Dec. 22, 2017, according to Pop Sugar.
