RTTNews - Thursday, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic said the consumer prices climbed 2.2% year-on-year in May, slowing from 2.3% rise in the preceding month.

On a monthly basis, the consumer prices were up 0.2% in May, reversing a 0.1% fall in April. Food and non-alcoholic beverages showed the fastest rise in prices on a monthly basis, increasing 0.8%.

For the first five months of the year, consumer prices were up 2.7% compared to the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, the core inflation stood at 1.1% annually in May compared to 1.2% in the previous month. Compared to previous month, core consumer prices rose 0.2%, reversing a 0.1% fall in April.

Net inflation on an annual basis was 1.9% in May versus 2% in April. Month-on-month, the net inflation remained unchanged at 0.1%.
