Friday, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic said in a report that retail sales at constant prices dropped 10.3% year-on-year in February, to EUR 2.72 billion, after a 3.3% fall in the previous month.

Wholesale trade at current prices slipped 27.8% in February, compared to a 23.4% fall in January.

At the same time, turnover in accommodation declined 29%, after falling 28.7% in January. Turnover at hotels was down 25.9%, following a 28.7% fall in the previous month.

In February, turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles plunged 33.3%, after a 34% fall in January.

For the January to February period, retail sales were down 6.3% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
