Wednesday, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic said in a report that the retail sales at constant prices dropped 7.5% year-over-year in March to EUR 1.44 billion, after falling 10.3% in February.

Wholesale trade at current prices declined 24.2% annually in March, compared to a 27.8% fall in the previous month.

At the same time, turnover in accommodation declined 24.1% to EUR 26.1 million, after falling 29% in February. Turnover in restaurants and beverage service activities was down 27.6%.

Meanwhile, turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles decreased 7.3% in March, after a 33.3% fall in February.

For the January to March period, retail sales dropped 6.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. During the period, wholesale trade turnover dipped 25.1%.
