RTTNews - Thursday, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic said that the trade surplus increased to EUR 372.4 million in April from EUR 104.9 million in March. This was the highest surplus balance over the last five years. The March trade surplus revised from EUR 81.9 million estimated initially. A year earlier, the trade balance was a deficit of EUR 234 million.

Exports decreased 24.3% year-on-year to EUR 3.39 billion in April, while imports declined 35.9% to EUR 3.02 billion. Imports plunged the highest level since 2005.

For the first four months of the year, exports dropped 27.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports fell 30.1%. At the same time, trade surplus amounted to EUR 325.6 million.
