The “Sneaky Pete” characters are in trouble when the Amazon series returns. Marin Ireland, Shane McRae and Libe Barer talked to International Business Times at ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, and they revealed that their characters are all in sticky situations when Season 2 picks up.

Though “Sneaky Pete,” co-created by Graham Yost and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, follows Giovanni Ribisi as a con man who takes on his prison cellmate’s identity, viewers quickly learned that the whole family knows how to cause trouble. Barer explained that everyone will be facing the results of their actions in Season 2.

“One of the things that we’ve been talking about is that in this season, it’s all about the consequences,” the actress, who plays Carly, told IBT at ATX’s opening night red carpet. “Our characters are dealing with consequences and repercussions for the things that went down in the last season.”

Those consequences could be pretty severe for Carly, who ended “Sneaky Pete” Season 1 by holding Detective Winslow (Michael O’Keefe) at gunpoint. “There’s some very real things that she’s having to deal with. … I think she’s going to have to deal in a very real way that is going to be challenging,” she teased.

Elsewhere, Taylor is trying to grow up, but that doesn’t mean losing his reckless side. Shane McRae said that he’ll be figuring out how to use that flaw in a beneficial way.

“Well, we’ve only just begun starting to read them,” McRae told IBT of “Sneaky Pete” Season 2. “But for my character, Taylor, I think he’s going to continue to try to—he’s sort of on this journey from being sort of a man child to, I think, trying to become more fully grown.”

“It’s interesting because he’s such an impulsive, I guess, impulsive and angry and happy—whatever he is, he just goes for it all the way,” the actor added. “And now he’s in so much trouble that he’s starting to see how to use that impulsiveness to his advantage.”

While Taylor is growing up, Julia will just be figuring out how to survive after setting up a deal to launder money for crooks when she believed she was out of options. Ireland wasn’t too optimistic about Julia’s future.

“Julia finished last season, I feel like, sort of having stepped off like when you’re going into the ocean and suddenly have a drop,” Ireland explained. “She ends last season way in over her head, and I feel like it’s just going to get worse for her. She really is not equipped for what’s going on this season, and I’m not sure who is going to help her out or how yet. But I am really excited for that. I think she’s really flailing and she’s gotta figure out how to build a raft out of like nothing.”

“Sneaky Pete” was renewed for Season 2 earlier this year. Though Amazon doesn’t release ratings, it noted that the show was the second most-watched series on its release day, second only to “The Man in High Castle.” Season 2 is expected to hit Amazon early next year, but no exact premiere date has been revealed yet.
