Saturday Night Live capitalized on some of the most popular and funniest topics in the news on Saturday night, running the gamut from tanning mom Patricia Krentcil to Fifty Shades of Grey on Mother's Day.

On the Eli Manning-hosted show, SNL veterans Seth Meyers and Kristen Wiig were hilarious for the Weekend Update skit about tanning mom Patricia Krentcil.

New Jersey mom Patricia Krentcil was arrested and charged with second-degree child endangerment after she was accused of taking her five-year-old daughter to a tanning salon. New Jersey law states that no one under the age of 14 is allowed to use a tanning bed. Teenagers over 14 but under 18 may use such facilities, but only with parental approval.

However, Krentcil's shockingly over-tanned appearance is what caught the most attention in the media. The 44-year-old has darkly tanned, leathery skin that stands out against her bleached-blonde hair and pale lips. Some have compared Krentcil to the old lady in the 1998 comedy There's Something About Mary.

Wiig portrayed Krentcil in the SNL skit, complete with toasted brown skin, white lips, bleached blonde hair and a leather jacket. She rolled onto the Weekend Update set, with smoke trailing out from behind her overly-tanned body.

Hello Seth. Sorry about all the smoke. I just came from the tanning salon, said the actress. When asked about the allegations against her, Wiig as Patricia Krentcil joked, I would never bring a five-year-old into a tanning bed. Tanning beds should only be used by adults. Because, you may not know this Seth, some people over-tan.

Another hilarious skit of the night was the Amazon Mother's Day Ad.

This skit featured all the leading ladies of SNL enjoyed some, ahem, private time while reading the red-hot New York Times' best-selling S&M erotica novel, Fifty Shades of Grey. As the fathers and children attempt to go into the room and surprise the mothers with gifts for Mother's Day, they find the mother deeply engaged in her copy of Fifty Shades of Grey.

The ad showcases the Amazon Kindle as the perfect Mother's Day gift.

So this Mother's Day go to Amazon.com and get mom what she really wants - 'Fifty Shades of Grey' on Kindle, said the voiceover. The Kindle. What are you reading mom? We'll never know.
