MTV had originally announced the filming of spinoff show for Jersey Shore's Snooki and JWoww in Hoboken way back in April 2011, but now Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer has effectively bunged a spanner in the works by refusing show's production company a permit to shoot there.
E! News obtained a letter sent to MTV and Jim Bianco the producer at 495 Productions, in which Mayor Dawn Zimmer says: As the mayor of a community that has experienced significant corruption in the recent past, I write to put you, 495 Productions, MTV and Viacom on formal notice that there will be zero tolerance for this kind of approach in the City of Hoboken.
Any attempts to film in a manner that is not permitted without a permit will be dealt with immediately and aggressively by the City of Hoboken, she continues in the letter.
This is not the first time that this kind of official action is being taken against Jersey Shore. Earlier in September, Governor Chris Christie had denied the show a $420,000 tax credit for the show to film in his state, citing reasons that he was duty-bound to the taxpayers for not paying for a project which does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens.
Earlier today, a post by Snooki on her Facebook account says: NYC for lots of press with my girl Jwowwzers ! love my booboo! Can't wait for our spinoff!!
