Sol Wave House, located on the island of Majorca, is harnessing the power of social media to not only get new customers but as a way to enhance the overall experience of the hotel. It is the “first Twitter experience hotel” and offers Twitter-themed rooms, drinks and a way for individuals to flirt online and possibly meet up using hashtags.

Time dubs the Sol Wave House as the first “Twitter Hotel” and speaking to their social media director, Marco Fantón, the hotel hopes to use Twitter as way for potential guests to flirt online. The potential for a Twitter experience does not end online as the hotel has created a whole experience around social media.

Sol Wave House features a Twitter Party Suite where a group of four can get together and enjoy Magaluf Beach. The suite comes equipped with a complimentary bottle of champagne and a “Twitter conceierge” where guests will only need to use hashtags for anything they desire or need. The hotel also features a “#Twitterpoolparty” on Fridays and even created a Twitter-inspired cocktail and shot.

Through “#SocialWave” the hotel hopes to engage guests and create a social community. The community can only be accessed via the hotel’s private network, notes Time, and that allows guests to, potentially, do more than just stay at a hotel. Inside the hotel, guests can flirt with one another and the poolside chairs each have numbers so guests can easily identify anyone who has caught their eye. The hotel hopes to extend the usage of Twitter so admirers could send drinks to their person of interest. Other aspects of the hotel, such as room service, chef requests, maid service or song requests from the resident DJ may be upgraded to include Twitter integration.
