“Sons of Anarchy” Season 7 will launch Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. EDT, and media reports indicate fans of the hit FX series are in for one heck of a wild ride. Although series creator Kurt Sutter, who also plays the character Otto, told Deadline a chunk of the Season 7 storyline will focus on the conflict between “Jax and himself,” viewers can still anticipate other characters within the series to experience their own fair shares of drama.

For example, take Wayne Unser, the former chief of the Charming Police Department played by Dayton Callie. The last time we saw this menacing man, he was feeding Gemma a whole lot of lies, as recounted by TVLine. During the Season 6 finale of “SoA,” Unser blamed Tara for ratting out Samcro, which ultimately placed Jax behind bars. In a fit of rage -- and a drunken state -- Gemma marched over to Tara’s home to confront her. And by “confront,” we actually mean “kill.”

Gemma took an iron and swung it at Tara’s head when her daughter-in-law walked through the door. She then grabbed Jax’s wife and dragged her to the sink, drowning her in dirty dishwater. As Tara fought back, Gemma reached for the craving fork nearby, jamming it into Tara’s skull. We can still hear the gut-wrenching crunch now.

When the deed was finally done, Sheriff Eli and Juice walked into Tara’s home, witnessing what Gemma did.

“It had to be done,” Gemma cried. “I have work to do. She did this.”

That’s when Eli revealed Tara had no part in ratting out the Sons. Realizing Gemma had just killed an innocent woman, Juice reached for his gun and shot Eli, his former ally, twice. He then removed Gemma from the scene of the crime, which is when Jax arrived, finding Tara’s lifeless body on the blood-soaked floor.

So, how will Unser react to Tara’s death? According to TV Guide, he won’t exactly be feeling remorseful, considering he doesn’t know it was his words that led to her demise. But he may realize the part he played after he helps Charming’s newest sheriff with the murder investigation -- that is, if he lives to ever uncover the truth.

There’s “a couple people” who don’t want Unser snooping around the case, and we have a feeling one of them might just be Gemma. If we know anything about the matriarch, it’s that she’ll do anything to protect her own, and herself. Guess Unser better tread carefully. There’s no telling what Gemma can do!
