Following the leak originated from Russia, Sony inadvertently uploaded a photo of the upcoming Xperia E5 showing the front and back of the device in its official Facebook page.

Realizing the mistake, the photo of Sony Xperia E5 in blackish gray hue has since been removed, but not before NDTV took a copy of it. Going by the photo, the E5 looks similar to other mid-range Sony devices with less side bezel. But there is a thick slab of bezel on the top as well as at the bottom of the handset.

To top it off, a front-facing shooter and a rear-facing sensor along with LED flash can also be seen. While the company name has been imprinted on the front of the device, the brand “xperia” has been embossed at the back.

Speaking of release date, Phone Arena says this device could be unveiled on June 5, based on an alleged press image leaked earlier.

A couple of weeks back, two unnamed Sony handsets with model numbers “F3216” and “F3311” visited the GFXBench site. The model F3216 is nothing but the recently launched upper-mid-range handset Sony Xperia XA Ultra. The Sony F3311, on the other hand, is believed to be the mid-range Xperia E5. Needless to say, the Xperia XA Ultra comes with better specifications and features than the E5.

As far as the rumored configurations go, the Sony Xperia E5, tied to the model number F3311, will reportedly carry a pocket-friendly 4.6-inch display, bundled with a modest 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution.

Under the hood, this device will apparently come powered by a MediaTek MT6735 chipset and backed by 1.5GB of RAM. Camera-wise, a solid 16-megapixel rear-facing sensor, in addition to a 5-megapixel snapper at the front for selfies can be expected.
